Backnanger Wool Festival: A Weekend of Fiber, Friends, and New Adventures

Last weekend, I had the pleasure of being a vendor at the Backnanger Wool Festival, just outside of Stuttgart. After nearly nine years, this festival was back, and I was thrilled to be part of it for the first time as a seller. My booth was filled with my vibrant, hand-dyed yarns, from cozy sock yarn to luxurious Suri Alpaka silk. Meeting so many fiber enthusiasts was a joy—each customer had a unique story and journey, and it was wonderful to learn where they all came from.

A special highlight was catching up with Nana from Nana’s Knits and Threads! We first met at Wollfestival Kassel last year, and she stopped by to see what’s new in my shop. She picked up her order, a Merino Alpaka Sport base perfect for her next shawl project, the Hesper Shawl from Amy Christoffers. I also had a chance to chat with Melli from the Knit Happens Podcast, a newer YouTube channel with fantastic energy.

And, in a new twist for me, I bought my first spindle from Holzwolly! I can highly recommend this company if you are looking to start spinning yourself and have a few questions on how to get started! I am really excited to try spinning, though I still need to wash and card the raw fiber. It’s a new journey, and I can’t wait to see where it leads.
